Assessing How Islamic Banking Services Influence the Non-Financial Performance of Selected Deposit Money Banks in Nigeria
Abstract:
Non-interest banking services are designed to enhance financial inclusion and deepen financial intermediation, particularly for entrepreneurs who face difficulties accessing capital through traditional banking channels. Despite extensive studies on the financial performance of these institutions, there remains a gap in understanding the impact of Islamic banking services on the non-financial performance of deposit money banks in Nigeria. This study, therefore, assesses how Islamic banking services influence the non-financial performance of selected deposit money banks in Nigeria. Using a survey research design, structured questionnaires were administered to credit officers of selected banks in Nigeria for the 2023 financial year. Findings reveal that Islamic banking services significantly improve customer loyalty and bank reputation, contributing to overall non-financial performance. The study suggests that banks should expand these services to tap into the underserved market segments.
